Pretty things I've made for love and money.

MAPLIGHT POWER SEARCH

After the California Secretary of State made all California campaign contribution data available as a bulk download, I worked with Leon Smith and the MapLight data team to design and build this search interface. The project was an extension of one started at a Google Hackathon and gifted to MapLight, and is built mostly in Javascript and Java on Play Framework, September 2013.

TWENTY-THREE: A LOOK BACK IN DATA

When I turned 24 I gifted myself a suite of datavisualizations, about the preceding year's more prosaic events: what books I read and who I lived with (at 23 I lived two co-ops, and had many housemates). I used Tableau and D3 to make the visualizations, and Bootstrap to package them, February 2013.

SPATIAL HISTORY: THE PLAYS OF FRANCA JUNIOR

A network visualization of the characters within plays by the Brazilian playwright Franca Junior and the dialogue between them. Did much of the design & coding on this piece, working under Frederico Freitas and Zephyr Frank. Built using Gephi and Flash, Summer, 2011.

Here's a smattering of my work in graphic design over the past several years.
